Pavithra Rajendran, Ph.D., will discuss the growing capabilities of open-source Large Language Models (LLMs) and how they compare to their closed-source counterparts. Her talk will focus on the application of these open-source LLMs within paediatric health care, specifically for extracting valuable insights from unstructured data. It will also address the challenges of deploying these models in real-world clinical settings.
Pavithra leads the NLP and Computer Vision workstream at GOSH DRIVE, where she focuses on developing AI-driven solutions for analysing and extracting insights from unstructured clinical text and images. With over eight years of experience in academic and commercial settings, she specialises in translating research into practical, end-to-end solutions, from proof-of-concept to production. Her background includes consulting, where she applied traditional and deep learning-based NLP techniques for diverse client projects across the public and private sectors. Pavithra holds a Master's in Advanced Computing (Machine Learning, Data Mining and High Performance Computing) and a PhD in Computer Science (Natural Language Processing).
